Bee Pollen: The Amazing Super Food and Its Many Benefits

There is a super food that my mother used to give me when I was young on a regular basis.

We had no idea there were such things as "super foods" in the 70s in Hungary. My mom just knew this food was very high in nutrients and her skinny daughter who was a super picky child needed more minerals, vitamins and immune support.

Benefits of Bee Pollen - Nature's Super Food 

Bee pollen is an amazing super food! It is the pollen from a flower, that the honey bees gather and bring back to their hives.

It contains all the minerals, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes that a human needs to survive. It is high in B complex, vitamins A, C, D, and E. It also contains lecithin, beta-carotene, selenium.

A fantastic source of vitamin B12 - hence the reason many vegans love to take it in their smoothies and recipes. Plus it is a complete source of protein. When you have a vitamin B deficiency, go for bee pollen! I always have a jar at home. 

1) Bee pollen is often used to help ease allergies. It reduces the production of histamine which can cause allergic responses such as hay fever and pet allergies. For this to happen you need find bee pollen that is local to your area. It can be ingested to help the allergy sufferer build up a tolerance to the pollen they are allergic to. Taking pollen from a different area may not help you with your allergies, but is still a great supplement to your dietary regime. Bee pollen also can strengthen your respiratory system.

2) It builds the immune system and provides energy for the entire body. Athletes often use it to help increase their strength, endurance, energy and speed. It also aids the body in recovering from exercise. 

3) It has been shown that it can counteract the effects of radiation .. especially helpful for nausea, sleep disorders, and urinary disorders following radiation treatment.

4) It is thought to have the ability to remove poisons and toxic materials from the body. 

5) It can improve alertness and enable longer periods of work without becoming tired. It also helps us with depression and insomnia.

6) It is a great food to incorporate into your diet if you have diabetes because it increases our tolerance to glucose.

7) It may aid in the digestive process and the absorption of nutrients. It may also relieve anemia and constipation.

How to take:
Start the bee pollen by putting one grain under your tongue. Let it it absorb into your mucous tissues. This will put the pollen directly into your blood stream. If there is no reaction, the next day eat two grains. And then you may gradually increase in this manner. Best to start taking it in winter or non-allergy season. For the best absorption of all chemical compounds, chew the granules. This way you crack open the cellular walls. I usually sprinkle it on top of my smoothies or add it to honey.

You can find bee pollen at your local health food stores, farmers' markets or even grocery stores now. Always get your bee products raw and local for maximum benefit. Quality really matters here!!

- allergic to bee pollen
- allergic to bee stings
- pregnant or breastfeed
- or on blood thinners
